The Catholic Workers Movement \u2013 Kenya (CWM-K) was started in 1980 in Kenya as (Christian Workers Movement – Kenya<\/em>) but later changed to Catholic Workers Movement – Kenya<\/em> through the advice of Kenyan Catholic Bishops. The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) recognizes CWM-K as a Lay Apostolate Movement (LAM) committed to improve living conditions, rights and justice for workers. Being a Lay Apostolate Movement the CWM \u2013 K is under the Lay Apostolate Commission of the KCCB. Moreover CWM-K is a member of the World Movement of Christian Workers (WMCW<\/a> which is recognized by the Holy See under the Lay Apostolate Department (LAD). The CWM-K is a grassroots movement constituted by base groups at Small Christian Communities (SCC) and Parishes in 14 Dioceses of Kenya.<\/p>\n\n

The main purpose inspiring CWM-K movement existence is to train, educate, organise and empower workers to take actions improving livelihoods, working conditions, as well as accessing rights and justice. By December 2020 the CWM-K movement had 80 base groups constituted by 4,000 members. The CWM-K movement base groups exist to empower their members through diverse initiatives at local levels. Committed to empower workers, the CWM-K movement base groups facilitate members to find solutions to problems and challenges that hinder full human development, social justice, livelihood security and human dignity<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
